Solar Eclipse in Capricorn 12/25 -- We are already in this energy but the actual eclipse happens now at 4° Cap., conjunct Jupiter, making present changes significant, deep, beneficial, and resonant, if not in the way we presently anticipate. This eclipse energy will last for months and especially impact folks with points and planets in Capricorn and Cancer. Quite simply, who's in your boat and who's not? Who should and shouldn't be? What will you do about it? Who is paddling with you, willing to aim towards your star so that you can in turn help them aim towards theirs, and who is dragging their oar, wanting you (and their attachment to you) not to change? Basically, who's your fam? Are you helping each other emotionally navigate and grow? If not, this is great, extended energy for improving your foundation.
This eclipse is also in a separating trine to Uranus so there can be a useful element of surprise, realization, or shock related to Venus' domain of love, prosperity, sensuality, and environment. It's possible revelation won't feel good in the moment, but we might quickly realize it's what we need to wake up and start to delineate what we've been undervaluing or ignoring. We might also be experiencing a lot of spiritual growth related to our primary values and physical foundation as well as goals. And, as with Capricorn, business and legal matters can also present themselves, requiring thoughtful attention.
This is energy conducive to clearing out and breaking new paths, but be sure not to destroy valued groundwork just because it feels challenging to build upon. Ever see a goat scale the side of a sheer cliff? That stuff is bananas! For Capricorn, the goat with hooves and a sea serpent's tail, the feat performed is part impossible, entirely instinctive and fueled by intuition. The goat isn't built to panic or second guess, it must remain where it is, committed to progress. But once the goat reaches the apex, then what? It's time to plan forward. Meditate on that.
A solar eclipse is like a new moon amplified, with energy that strips out specifics and colors and casts everything in the same light so that we must judge everything without context or specifications. Think of how everything becomes monochromatic once the Sun sets. Everything is equalized, everything reduces to its barest facts... a sofa becomes just a sofa, not a red one with an old water stain, or a blue fuzzy mohair one. Flowers become their shapes alone, losing the hues that attract pollinators by day.
For this reason, the moon brings with it some feelings of uncertainty and the need for pure intuition. If this is not something we exercise and utilize regularly, we can experience discomfort, which is just a call to use the gifts we are imbued with, but our culture nearly demands that we atrophy. If we have to judge things for exactly what they are, not for their habit, bells, whistles, and context, what still matters and how?
When the moon blocks the sun, as in a solar eclipse, we are in the ultimate experience of the narratives we tell ourselves being defamiliarized for consideration. We have to feel into the quiet parts that are far less comfortable because of they hold undistilled truth. The Moon blocks the decisive, driven, extreme thinking of the masculine energies, and casts everything grey, forcing us to consult our intuition and knowing. The more we fight this, the more dangerous the moon's energy can feel. The moon reminds us that things aren't so easy or cut & dry, nor should they be. If we feel that way and we function as such, we can be sure we are subverting our own growth and highest good, stunting our soul's potential.
